Be a Reading Buddy in UCPS
Did you know that a key indicator in a child's ability to move out of generational poverty is being able to read at grade level?
That means, a 3rd grader with the ability to read Charlotte's Web has a higher chance of graduating high school, attending college and moving out of a cycle of poverty.
And you can help - and it's EASY!
Sign up to read with a 1st grader for 30-minutes a week with UCPS' Read With U program - either in-person or virtually.
While all schools need volunteers, please consider becoming a Reading Buddy at East, Benton Heights, Walter Bickett, Sardis, Marshville, Wingate, Rocky River or Rock Rest elementary school.
Read with U is easy as 1-2-3
Visit the Union County Public Schools website and click on Read with U to complete a volunteer application by clicking HERE.
Once your application is approved, contact the volunteer coordinator at your local elementary school to get started.
Read with your student for at least 30 minutes once per week during the school year.
